Casinos make most of their profits from gamblers who place large bets, known as high rollers. To encourage high-stakes gamblers, they often have special rooms separate from the main gambling area where the stakes can be tens of thousands of dollars. To entice high rollers, they reduce the house’s advantage to less than 1 percent.
